Exhibition Martin Parr, Parrathon

Martin Parr, part of the Magnum Photos agency, is today a world-famous photographer with an easily recognisable offbeat style. Through his approach, style and choice of themes, he has become a role model for the next generation of photographers.
Parrathon is a large exhibition of more than 400 photographs covering 14 themes: from his first black and white series in the 70s and 80s through to his renowned colour series The Last Resort (1983-85) which made him famous, to more recent works.
Martin Parr dissects our society in search of meaning, touching on class struggle, overconsumption, holidays and mass tourism. Under Parr’s lens, individual details become sublime, comical or moving. His words to live by are irony, self-deprecation, kitsch, cheer and of course a typically British sense of humour.
