The exhibition presents Andy Warhol, a true witness of his time. His artistic production brought about a profound change in the world of art, since it replaced the single work with multiplied and interchangeable copies. It very consciously transformed art into merchandise and gave widespread distribution to images borrowed from the media of his time.
With his contemporaries, such as Lichtenstein, Oldenburg, Rauschenberg and Johns, he was part of the Pop Art movement, which still has undeniable presence in our current everyday lives.
An enlightened and eclectic artist, he was already a myth during his lifetime.
Stavelot Abbey presents original works from private collections and from Belgian and foreign institutions.
