Exhibition Laurent Durieux revisits the Movie Poster
June 19, 2025 to January 11, 2026
The Abbey of Stavelot is delighted to present an exceptional exhibition dedicated to Laurent Durieux, the internationally renowned Belgian illustrator and poster artist.
Praised by legendary filmmakers such as Steven Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola, Durieux reimagines the posters of cult films with a unique artistic approach.
From Jaws to Titanic, including The Godfather, The Shining, and Metropolis, his creations breathe new life into cinema classics.
Laurent Durieux has taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Belgium, Europe, the United States, and Asia. His posters are part of the collections of prestigious institutions such as the Academy Museum in Los Angeles (Oscars Museum), the Cinémathèque Française in Paris, and many private collections around the world.
In his posters, Laurent Durieux strives to find the right angle – the one that hasn’t been used yet or the one you wouldn’t expect! A whole universe condensed into a single image that may initially surprise or unsettle but ultimately captivates through its originality.
His works fascinate with their meticulous composition, enchanting colors, and attention to detail. Laurent Durieux restores the movie poster’s status as a true work of art.
